Lelystad

Lelystad is a developing city. Not only is the number of inhabitants expected to grow to 80,000 between now and 2015; the aim is also to increase the number of jobs available to about 32,000. Every year an average of 500 to 1000 homes are built in Lelystad.
An attractive place to live
One advantage of living in Lelystad is the city’s favourable position and its spacious set-up. Lelystad is in the relatively new area of Flevoland and has a clean environment. The air, water and soil have scarcely been touched and the surroundings are largely dominated by water, woodlands and other natural areas. The infrastructure is spacious and well-organized. The separation of different types of traffic is truly special; a large network of walking and cycling paths creates a situation in which this slow moving traffic only meets up with motorised traffic in the residential areas. Lelystad is easily reached by rail and by motorway, and the city is closely situated to the country’s more densely populated western area, known as the Randstad.
